COVID-19 SAFETY POLICY 2022.

The policy, in addition to general hygiene advice, will cover general class procedures and in some procedures for specific classes on movement of people in and out of the facility, gymnastics activities, and use of equipment as related to the current restriction level.

This plan has been developed to ensure that our key values of fun, responsibility, respect and equality are incorporated into our return to gymnastics in what is a changed environment. Through this plan we aim to ensure that all members of the Eastside Gymnastics Academy community are aware of their personal responsibility to comply with new requirements to ensure the safety of everyone within our club and our wider community.

Eastside Activity Centre and Eastside Gymnastics Academy COVID-19 Safety Coordinator

In accordance with the Sport Australia COVID-19 Return to Sport Toolkit, Eastside Gymnastics Academy has appointed a COVID-19 Safety Coordinator. The coordinator is responsible for completing relevant checklists, overseeing the development, implementation and monitoring of our return to sport plan and being the point of contact for members, their families, our state and national sporting organisation and Government / public health authorities.

You can contact our COVID-19 Safety Coordinator at any time as follows:

COVID-19 Safety Coordinator: Felicity Harvey

Direct email: eastsideactivitycentre@gmail.com

COVIDSafe App

We encourage you to download the COVID-19 app. The COVIDSafe app is the only contact trace app approved by the Australian Government.

The COVIDSafe app helps find close contacts of COVID-19 cases. The app helps state and territory health officials to quickly contact people who may have been exposed to COVID-19.

The COVIDSafe app speeds up the current manual process of finding people who have been in close contact with someone with COVID-19. This reduces the chances of you passing on the virus to your family, friends, and other people in the community.

State and territory health officials can only access app information if someone tests positive and agrees to the information in their phone being uploaded. The health officials can only use the app information to help alert those who may need to quarantine or get tested.

Check-In Procedures

Check In at Eastside Activity Centre and Eastside Gymnastics Academy is mandatory.

Visitors 16 years or older are required to use the Check in TAS app when they visit.

We would also encourage you to check in those under 16 that are travelling with you.

Failure to check in will result in refusal of entry for you and your child(ren).

Having a strong Public Health contact tracing app like Check in TAS means when someone is confirmed as having COVID-19, Public Health can rapidly access high-quality data about places that a person attended while they were infectious.

The free Check in TAS app is available for download from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

When contact tracing is underway in response to a COVID-19 case, there is not a moment to lose. Every minute counts. Public Health needs reliable information fast and in a consistent format that’s easy to use, so they can identify close contacts to help contain spread of the disease.

For those who do not have a smartphone or are unable to use the Check in TAS app there is a free Check In TAS card that you are able to apply for.

This free card contains a unique QR code with your details to allow a business to scan with their device and check you in. This provides a quick and private option where there are staff available to assist with check in.

To apply for a Check in TAS card on behalf of yours of or on behalf of an individual if they are unable to do so please follow this link: https://covid19.health.tas.gov.au/check-in-tas-business-registration/PatronCard

Spectator Procedures

At this stage Eastside Gymnastics Academy will NOT be allowing spectators, unless;
- your child is under 6 years old
- has a physical or mental health illness, condition, disability provided a medical certificate/doctors letter is supplied
- your child attends our parent assisted KinderGym program
- it is your child’s first class i.e. trial class

We kindly ask those parents/guardians that are allowed to stay that you limit this to one person per family to keep the spectator count as low as possible.

Please remain in your cars prior to the commencement of class. Athletes may enter 10 minutes prior to the start of class.

Only one parent/guardian per family may bring their child into the building 10 minutes before class.
When picking up children please do not enter the building until 5 minutes before class finishes.
If you need your child brought to your vehicle as you will have other children with you, please let us know and we will accommodate this.

Though it is not mandatory we strongly recommend that any parent/guardian attending Eastside Gymnastics Academy is double vaccinated.
A vaccinated person is far less likely to get seriously ill if they contract the virus, and they’re less likely to transmit COVID-19 to others.
This is particularly important for vulnerable people, including those with underlying medical conditions or with unvaccinated family members.

Face Mask Procedures

When in the car park, travelling between buildings, and inside buildings, masks must be worn by all those aged over 12 years (unless a medical exemption from the Director of Public Health is supplied and certifies that the person has a physical or mental health, illness, condition or disability that makes the wearing of a face mask unsuitable)

Athletes may remove their masks when on they are not stationary on the floor and performing 'vigorous exercise'. This includes warm ups and on apparatus. Athletes must wear masks whilst waiting for class, waiting for a turn on apparatus, walking to and from toilets etc
Whilst at this stage it is not mandatory, we would strongly encourage all athletes and children aged 5-11 years to wear a mask as well. Our stance on masks will be reviewed weekly.

Spectators and adults on the floor (e.g KinderGym parents) must wear masks when within the buildings and car park, and between buildings at all times.
(unless a medical exemption from the Director of Public Health is supplied and certifies that the person has a physical or mental health, illness, condition or disability that makes the wearing of a face mask unsuitable)

Refusal to wear a mask will result in refusal of entry for you and your child(ren).

Staff will abide by the above rules unless;
- when clear enunciation, or visibility of the mouth, is essential to health and safety (i.e spotting)
- there is an emergency and it is not practicable or safe to wear a face mask
- they are working alone in an enclosed indoor or outdoor area, until another person enters the space
- when doing intense physical exercise (for example demonstrating skills, participating in a vigorous warm up, etc.)
